This is so true. If you’re always thinking “I’ll be happy when…” or “If I get this I’ll be happy…” then you’ll always be chasing happiness because as soon as you hit that point or you get that thing, you instantly move on to the next thing to come along that might make you happy. As a consequence you will never be happy in the here and now.
If you think of happiness as a journey, as the path you’re walking down every day, and less of it as something that relies on particular events or particular things to make you feel that way, then you are going to be a much happier person.
To me, happiness just is.
