It has been another eventful week for me, though I haven’t been sleeping very well so am feeling really worn out and have a bit of a crick in my neck but nevertheless have had a great week.
Kayaking with Dad. I had some father/daughter time with my Dad last Saturday and we took the kayaks out for a bit which was nice.
Australia Day. Ok so it was a great day but man it is weird having a day off on a Tuesday, it’s like having a Monday on the actual Monday and another one on Wednesday! But it was a nice day I spent part of the day at the beach with my partner before heading off to the movies with a girlfriend.
Joy. The movie I went to see on Tuesday was Joy with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. It was an alright movie, it was about a woman who faced great odds to turn her dream into a reality, but oh my gosh her family annoyed me and I wanted to throw them out a window!
Monarto Zoo. This wasn’t really a visit, this was a volunteer information session, but the staff made it a bit special for us and we were taken out to the giraffe platform to see them feeding which was lovely. I’ll be going back for an interview in about a week and a half, wish me luck!
Local eatery open again! There’s a lunch bar down the street from work which has been closed for the last few weeks over Christmas and New Year and it only just opened back up today, so I was really excited to be able to go there and get banh mi for lunch today.
I hope you have all had a good week as well, let me know in the comments below what highlights you have to share.
Another week into 2016 already, can you believe it? I hope you have all had a great week, mine has been largely uneventful and yet still really tiring.
Bulk cooking. I don’t know why this is a highlight because I don’t really like cooking that much, but I am pleased that I spent some time on Sunday whipping up a few meals for us to have during the week. I’ve done this a couple of weeks now and am finding it is so much easier coming home at night and just being able to grab a good, healthy meal out of the freezer rather than having to cook.
Beach time! Best part about summer of course is being able to soak up those lovely warm rays. Last Sunday I spent some time at the beach with a couple of girlfriends and it was so nice, relaxing and refreshing.
New wax. Ok this might be a bit of a weird one, but I started seeing a different beauty therapist and she uses a different kinda wax on my lady bits and it is sooo much better than what I had used on me before!
Dietician. I saw my dietician yesterday and she says that I’m doing well in her opinion, I’m starting to work out what works for me in terms of my eating and what will help me control it, so that was a really positive catch up.
Potential work trip. I found out this week that I might be headed over to Sydney for a work trip at the end of August for a conference which, if happens will be great as I might be able to sneak in a catch up with my brother while I’m there, so keep your fingers crossed!
How was your week? Let me know in the comments below what highlights you have to share.
Mondayitis is totally a thing… after a beautiful day yesterday relaxing in the sun at the beach, and now today, being at work and it being overcast and raining, is just kind of miserable!
Are you also suffering from Mondayitis today? What tips and tricks do you have to help recover from it?
I am thinking, do something that makes you happy. Or maybe several things. Listen to music, watch a funny TV show or movie, (if it was sunny) go down to the beach, sunbathe, go kayaking, shopping is can be fun if you have some spare cash. Any other suggestions?

I love living near the beach, especially on days like today. It was a beautiful 35 degrees Celsius, so a couple of girlfriends and I decided to make the most of it and head down to the beach to soak up a few rays and cool off in the refreshingly chilly water.
Summer is definitely here. We’ve hit 40 degree Celsius days, with last night being about 30 degrees Celsius.
I love summer. Even when it’s 40. The sunshine, the beach, or even just being lazy inside and yes enjoying the air conditioner for a bit of relief. It’s just a wonderful time of year and one I have always loved.
Mind you, I have to confess I don’t enjoy 40 degrees out on a racetrack where it’s actually closer to 50 degrees. I did that once, and never again. You just can’t drink enough to stay hydrated.
How about you, do you enjoy summer? What’s your favourite time of year?
This is one of my favourite images that I took of the beach down near my rental property. I bought the unit just over 7 years ago after I split up with my boyfriend at the time. With the market prices being what they were back then, it was almost the same price to rent something as to buy it, so I figured, why not buy it?
The beach in the photo is about a 10 minute walk from the unit and this was actually taken from the top of the cliff, there’s a path you can take to walk down to the beach, it’s an absolute killer to walk back up, it’s so steep!
I loved living in that place though, it gave me a fresh start, and something that was all mine, something I had achieved all on my own, I learnt a lot about myself living in that house and going through the struggles of interest rates going up and barely being able to afford the mortgage repayments. But it all got me to where I am today, so I wouldn’t change anything.
About 18 months ago though, I started moving in with my current boyfriend while we started doing my unit up, and I’ve now been fully living with him for about a year, and my unit has been rented out for about that long too. Now, my boyfriend and I have just bought a house together, not far from my unit and only a little further from the beach.
