Friday Favourites

Another week has gone by and I don’t know about you but mine has been pretty jam packed.

Pole class turn private lesson. On Saturdays my pole classes are at 8am, which understandably it’s hard for some people to find the motivation. We’re a few weeks in to term now and it was only me at the last class so it turned into a bit of a private lesson as well which was great.

Lunch with my grandparents. On Sunday I caught up with my grandparents for lunch for the first time in a while which was nice.

Home away from home. With everything that’s going on in my personal life it was nice to take a bit of time away from home and stay at my Dad’s for the week while he was away. My dog and I even enjoyed a nice walk in the reserve that backs on to the house.

Business cards arrived. I ordered some business cards for Nutrimetics and they arrived in the post this week, woohoo!

Nutrimetics Centre Stage. Nutrimetics held a centre stage event called the Professional Make-up Masterclass where we got to hear about the newest eye shadow Nutrimetics have brought out in their professional make-up range.

Monarto Zoo Volunteer Day. I had a lovely day up at the zoo on Wednesday, it was only 2 degrees when I got up there but the sun was shining brightly and it turned out to be a lovely day.

Aquapole. Another week and another workout with a couple of my girlfriends, I am enjoying being able to see them every week!

See what I mean about a jam packed week! I hope you all had a great week and please feel free to share your highlights in the comments.

Take care,

Jas

Friday Favourites

The last been has been a hard one. Not particularly busy but hard because I’ve just been kinda mopey and struggling to get out of my funk. There were still a few highlights that happened but this coming weekend is going to be better.

Soaps are ready! Four weeks ago I made my first attempt at making soap, but cos I used the cold method I needed to wait a few weeks for it to cure before it was ready. Time was up on Saturday so I wrapped them up in nice little packages and I have a couple that I’m going to give out so I can get other people’s opinion on them.

Lunch with my grandparents. On Sunday I caught up with my grandparents for lunch who I haven’t seen for ages. It was nice to catch up with them after so lunch.

Lunch with Sales VP. During the week I caught up for lunch with our regional Sales VP and we were talking about a conference coming up which I want to go to, and he’s keen to get clients to go to. We struck a deal, if I can get 5 clients to register for the conference he will pay for me to go to the conference. I’m pretty excited by this and so trying to do whatever I can to make it happen.

Rental property valuation. To make things a bit easier on myself I am going to sell my rental property and use some of the money from that to pay off part of the mortgage on this house (I’m keeping the house as part of settlement). I had a call from my agent who valued the property for me and I was really pleasantly surprised at how much it will sell for and how much profit I’ll get, so that was a highlight of course!

How was your week, are there any highlights you’d like to share?

Take care,

Jas

It has been a rather eventful week for me and not really in the best way possible. My partner and I have decided to separate. I wanted to do a trial separation to see if the time apart would help, but when we talked about expectations during that time, it turns out he just wasn’t interested in doing anything to help or change. So that’s the end sadly.

There were still some good things that happened over the last week though, so I’ll share a few of them now.

Family day. My step-mum has been wanting to see Monarto Zoo for a while so last Saturday my Dad and I took her up there and we had a nice day going around and seeing all of the animals.

30th birthdays. A couple of my old high school buddies, who are actually married, had their joint 30th birthday over the weekend so it was nice to be able to celebrate with them. There was also an old friend there who I hadn’t seen in a really long time so it was great to be able to catch up with him too.

Long weekend. Oh I love a long weekend. Monday was a public holiday called Anzac Day where we have dawn services and such to remember those ANZACs who fell during the war.

Anzac Day lunch. At work we decided to hold an BBQ for Anzac Day. I brought in a portable BBQ and baked some Anzac cookies and the boys brought some snags so we trundled down to the soldiers memorial at the park just down the street from work. The weather even managed to be nice and sunny for us while we were there so it was lovely.

Aquapole. A girlfriend and I heard about this new craze hitting Australia called Aquapole, and as someone who enjoys both pole dancing and being in the water I thought this was a really cool idea. So, we have both signed up for classes! The first term doesn’t start until 25th May though so we have a bit of a wait but I’m also quite excited about it.

How has your week been? Are there any highlights you’d like to share?

This past week has actually gone by really quickly, I can’t believe it’s  mid-April!

Africa holiday. I mentioned last week that I had decided to go on an African Safari holiday through Tanzania and Rwanda. Last weekend I forked over quite a sum of money for flights and the safari deposit, so that’s it, I’m really going!

Flexibility class. On Saturday I had my weekly flexibility class, and my stretchiness is definitely improving which is great.

Friends birthday dinner. One of my closest girlfriends turned 30 last Sunday so she left the kids at home with her parents and we caught up for dinner on the Saturday night which was awesome, we had a really good time.

Family catch up. On Sunday my partner and I caught up with my Dad and Step-Mum for lunch and then headed over to my grandparents place for afternoon tea. It was nice to catch up and spend some time together, we don’t really do it too often.

Monarto Zoo. I had a volunteer day on Wednesday and am now officially a “Mallee Minder”, yay! The highlight for the day up there was rounding up the wallabies for their vet check, oh man that’s a lot of effort.

I hope you all had a great week, if there are any highlights you’d like to share just add them in the comments!

Take care,

Jas

Friday Favourites, 5 February

Ahh first week of February, where did you go? It was a steadily busy week, but an enjoyable one though. I’m a day late doing this post because I was out with a couple of girlfriends last night and didn’t get home until really late.

Booked holidays! Last weekend I booked two holidays, a quick trip to Melbourne to visit a friend which is next weekend, yay! And then another one to Kangaroo Island over Easter.

Grandparents. Last Sunday I stopped in to visit my grandparents because my grandpa often drives the bus for some school kids when they take them over to Kangaroo Island and so, because we’ve booked an Easter Holiday there, I popped over to see them and talk to him about good things to do over there.

Meditation. One of the things I done with my teams is get them to organise some kind of team bonding, so each quarter on person will organise something, and it can be as short as 20-30 minutes or up to 3 hours. One of my teams decided to do meditation, so we spent an hour on Monday taking a stroll to the park, talking about meditation and then doing a meditation session, and it was really good. I felt so calm and relaxed as well.

Drumming. My other team organised drumming in the park. One of the guys has a few Djembe drums, and another that I can’t remember the name of. So we sat around, we learned three sounds to make with the drums and then we slowly put some of that together to make music. It was lots of fun, a bit challenging but just challenging enough that it kept me really entertained.

Dinner with the girls. Last night a couple of girlfriends and I went down to one of the local Community Clubs for a meal which wasn’t to bad. It was fun catching up with the girls as always and the club did a raffle draw as well, not that I win anything but one of the girls did which was nice.

How was your week this week? Are there any highlights you’d like to share?

Take care,

Jas

Kayaking with Dad

My Dad has never been kayaking before but has been thinking about getting one to take out himself. So I thought it would be a good opportunity to grab mine and take him out to see what he thought of it.

He enjoyed it but because he has a bit of a bad back he’d probably need to get one of those seats you can put in to help support the back a bit more. We’ll see how he’s feeling about it tomorrow when his arms, shoulders and back muscles have been able to catch up with him!

Below are some pictures I took of our trip out, just along the Onkaparinga River.

Christmas Wrap-Up!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas day with lots of yummy food and lovely presents!

Mine and my partners Christmas family gatherings started on Christmas Eve with my Mum’s side of the family. We don’t give presents to each other anymore because it ended up that we were just going “what would you like?” and buying that, so we just figured we’d buy it ourselves. I did get something for my Mum though, she bought a Suzuki Swift about a year ago and wanted dash mats and seat covers, so I bought her a Super Cheap Auto voucher. But because I don’t really like getting people vouchers, I also went on to the Photobox website and made her a personalised 2016 diary with pictures of me and my partner and our dog in it. My Mum got some of the pictures from our Bali trip and made a collage of them in a really big frame which is nice. It’s quite huge and heavy so we need to work out where we can hang it where it won’t fall off the wall!

For Christmas Day lunch we went to my step brothers house…or maybe it was more like an early dinner. They tried lunch a few years ago and haven’t learnt anything about timing because lunch was at about 3pm! Anyway, my siblings and I do a Kris Kringle present giving which makes things easier when there are six of us! I had my sister in law this year and I bought her a Pandora stacker ring, my partner had my eldest step-brother and got him a small kitchen veggie/herb garden, and I got a perfume and lotions set and he got a Super Cheap Auto voucher. For my Dad we got him tickets to the Australia Day cricket and gave my step-Mum the bellabox Christmas box. From them I got a fancy drink dispenser and some money and my partner got an air sander.

We finished up the day at my partner’s parents place and we got his Mum a personalised 2016 wall calendar, we had an extra one made for his Gran as well. For his Dad was some fishing thing for his boat which I really didn’t understand what it was! And for one sister we got the bellabox Christmas box and the other one we bought a T2 teapot with matching cup and three little tins of loose leaf tea. Gosh we always get spoiled when we’re over there, we got a rotary clothesline, because the one we have now is hung under the carport and I can’t reach it! Along with some pegs and clothes bags and a voucher for Bunnings. My partner also got a life jacket for when we go kayaking and I got an Anaconda voucher to buy some accessories for my kayaks. I also got a couple of makeup and jewellery cases as well and my partner got another toolset and some little sorting tubs for the shed.

Did you all have a nice Christmas? What presents did you get?

Take care,

Jas
