I can’t believe another week has gone by already. It doesn’t seem like it has been long enough for it to be yet another Friday, and it doesn’t really feel like I’ve achieved much over the last week either!

Pole class. Second to last class for the term and even though I was feeling like crap I still got my butt into gear and went there anyway, go me!

Nutrimetics Beauty Club. I had training on Monday night and we did a couple of things, first looked at how to build the business through party bookings. Then second I got to play with the new Professional Colour Illusion Eyeshadows which was great, they are so nice and soft and creamy to use.

Aquapole. Yes another class again this week, I’m really enjoying seeing my girls each week and hoping to book something else in after this so we can keep catching up!

Bellabox. My June bellabox arrived this week as well which is exciting. There was so much in it the box was literally bursting. Can’t wait to get into it and try everything out.

I hope you have had a great week this week. I’d love if you could share the highlights from your week in the comments.

Take care,

Another week has gone by and I don’t know about you but mine has been pretty jam packed.

Pole class turn private lesson. On Saturdays my pole classes are at 8am, which understandably it’s hard for some people to find the motivation. We’re a few weeks in to term now and it was only me at the last class so it turned into a bit of a private lesson as well which was great.

Lunch with my grandparents. On Sunday I caught up with my grandparents for lunch for the first time in a while which was nice.

Home away from home. With everything that’s going on in my personal life it was nice to take a bit of time away from home and stay at my Dad’s for the week while he was away. My dog and I even enjoyed a nice walk in the reserve that backs on to the house.

Business cards arrived. I ordered some business cards for Nutrimetics and they arrived in the post this week, woohoo!

Nutrimetics Centre Stage. Nutrimetics held a centre stage event called the Professional Make-up Masterclass where we got to hear about the newest eye shadow Nutrimetics have brought out in their professional make-up range.

Monarto Zoo Volunteer Day. I had a lovely day up at the zoo on Wednesday, it was only 2 degrees when I got up there but the sun was shining brightly and it turned out to be a lovely day.

Aquapole. Another week and another workout with a couple of my girlfriends, I am enjoying being able to see them every week!

See what I mean about a jam packed week! I hope you all had a great week and please feel free to share your highlights in the comments.

What a productive week I’ve had, so much has been going on!

Pole class. I had my dance class on Saturday and we started learning the routine this week which is always fun.

Shopping. I met up with a couple of girlfriends on Sunday and we went looking for clothes to wear to a high tea that we’re going to in a couple of weeks. Well they looked, I was just there for the company as I already have a dress to wear.

Pamphlet delivery. So I signed up to do pamphlet delivery, the pay is crap really but I thought why pay to go to the gym and walk when I can get someone else to pay me to walk. So we’ll see how it goes.

Lunch. I went to lunch with a girlfriend which was nice, it was good to catch up, we haven’t been out for a while.

Coffee and cake. One of my staff took me out for coffee and cake today, she had noticed that things hadn’t been so great for me lately and was worried about me. It was nice to have someone just notice like that and ask if I was ok.

How has your week been? Did anything special happen?

The last week has gone really quickly, there’s been heaps happening at work and in my personal life it’s all just sort of zoomed past.

New term of pole. Last Saturday I started a new term at my pole dancing studio. The first class back can be the hardest I find because it’s revision of tricks from the previous term and so is really intense! But it still felt really good to be back despite the sore muscles.

Shopping. After my pole class I met one of my girlfriends at a shopping centre in one of the richer Adelaide areas (Burnside for any Adelaidians reading, so you know what I mean). Oh my gosh there were some absolutely gorgeous clothes there, but though I earn a decent salary it’s just not decent enough to buy anything there.

Mothers day. Last Sunday was Mothers day and so I took my Mum up to Monarto Zoo, I’m not sure that she’s ever been before so it was a great experience for her and turned out to be a not too bad day which is good.

Solicitor. This might be an odd one to call a highlight, but given everything that’s happening with mine and my former partners separation, it was time to bring in a solicitor to get some advice so that I had a better understanding of how to get everything resolved. The solicitor I saw today was good and I feel much better now I have a better idea of what I need to do and what the possible options for settlement are.

Window shopping. I didn’t feel like going straight home after work and so I decided to go into the city because they do late night shopping on Friday nights, so I just wandered around and looked at things, tried a couple of pieces of clothing on…noticed they don’t actually go on sale until tomorrow, so I’m going to go back to the local store and pick them up when they’re on sale tomorrow lol.

How has your week been? Are there any highlights you would like to share?

It has been a rather eventful week for me and not really in the best way possible. My partner and I have decided to separate. I wanted to do a trial separation to see if the time apart would help, but when we talked about expectations during that time, it turns out he just wasn’t interested in doing anything to help or change. So that’s the end sadly.

There were still some good things that happened over the last week though, so I’ll share a few of them now.

Family day. My step-mum has been wanting to see Monarto Zoo for a while so last Saturday my Dad and I took her up there and we had a nice day going around and seeing all of the animals.

30th birthdays. A couple of my old high school buddies, who are actually married, had their joint 30th birthday over the weekend so it was nice to be able to celebrate with them. There was also an old friend there who I hadn’t seen in a really long time so it was great to be able to catch up with him too.

Long weekend. Oh I love a long weekend. Monday was a public holiday called Anzac Day where we have dawn services and such to remember those ANZACs who fell during the war.

Anzac Day lunch. At work we decided to hold an BBQ for Anzac Day. I brought in a portable BBQ and baked some Anzac cookies and the boys brought some snags so we trundled down to the soldiers memorial at the park just down the street from work. The weather even managed to be nice and sunny for us while we were there so it was lovely.

Aquapole. A girlfriend and I heard about this new craze hitting Australia called Aquapole, and as someone who enjoys both pole dancing and being in the water I thought this was a really cool idea. So, we have both signed up for classes! The first term doesn’t start until 25th May though so we have a bit of a wait but I’m also quite excited about it.

This past week has actually gone by really quickly, I can’t believe it’s  mid-April!

Africa holiday. I mentioned last week that I had decided to go on an African Safari holiday through Tanzania and Rwanda. Last weekend I forked over quite a sum of money for flights and the safari deposit, so that’s it, I’m really going!

Flexibility class. On Saturday I had my weekly flexibility class, and my stretchiness is definitely improving which is great.

Friends birthday dinner. One of my closest girlfriends turned 30 last Sunday so she left the kids at home with her parents and we caught up for dinner on the Saturday night which was awesome, we had a really good time.

Family catch up. On Sunday my partner and I caught up with my Dad and Step-Mum for lunch and then headed over to my grandparents place for afternoon tea. It was nice to catch up and spend some time together, we don’t really do it too often.

Monarto Zoo. I had a volunteer day on Wednesday and am now officially a “Mallee Minder”, yay! The highlight for the day up there was rounding up the wallabies for their vet check, oh man that’s a lot of effort.

I hope you all had a great week, if there are any highlights you’d like to share just add them in the comments!

Motivational Monday – Dancing

213cc8fc2fcba4a9ae8259be10e55875

I’ve been feeling this way recently with my dancing and as a consequence haven’t been doing it as much as I used to. I’ve forgotten why it is that I love dancing. The meaning of it got lost in trying to learn and perfect different moves, and only doing that. That was the focus of my training sessions rather than just absorbing the music and letting it move me and my feet. That sort of letting go and letting my mind run free with the music is what I love about dancing, and that’s what I need to be doing more of, and not just practising tricks or movements.

I think this applies to pretty much anything really. Whatever hobby or job we have, we need to remember what it is we love about doing it so that we can continue to really, truly enjoy what we’re doing.

Jas

I hope everyone had a great week last week. My week wasn’t too full on but a lot seemed to happen, some of which is pretty exciting!

Pole class. Last Saturday I was finally able to start classes again, with my dog being sick and then going on a holiday, and various other things, I missed a few weeks of it so it feels good to finally be back. Because it’s halfway through the term I’m just doing a couple of classes on a casual basis but it still feels good to be going in there again.

Monarto Zoo volunteer day. I had another volunteer day on Wednesday, just one more and I’ll be “qualified” yay! We did a lot of planting for feed and watering and checking/fixing irrigation.

Rhinos. Part of where we were planting on Wednesday was behind the rhino exhibit and while we were there I got to pat a rhino which is super cool!

Hair done. On Thursday I had an appointment with my hairdresser so I had a few blond foils put in, not heaps blond just like a caramel/honey colour to lighten the brown a bit, and then had a cut as well and it’s long enough now that I was able to get some layering done.

I’m going to Africa! One of the other volunteers at the Zoo has organised trips every now and then for groups of volunteers and the one he’s organising for next February is a safari tour around Tanzania and Rwanda. I decided to put my name down for it and am organising for my bank to pay deposits and all sorts this weekend. It’s 10 months away I know, but I’m pretty excited!

How was your week? Are there any highlights you’d like to share?

It really hasn’t felt like Friday today because of the Good Friday holiday today. It also made the rest of the week feel like it went by really quickly. Not that I’m complaining because I’m now on holiday, and with better phone reception than I thought I would have!

Aside from being on holiday, there are a few highlights from the last week.

Volunteers meeting. There was a Volunteers Meeting up at Monarto Zoo last Saturday and I headed up there to see what the news was and also got to meet a few other volunteers, including my boss and some others I’d be working with.

The Pole Boutique 5th Anniversary Show. The Pole Boutique has been open for 5 years as of January last year and so they did an anniversary show last Sunday night which was amazing. A lot of students and instructors got up and did a piece, and Carlie Hunter closed the show. She’s still most definitely my favourite pole dancer.

Ferry ride!. We caught the Kangaroo Island Ferry over to the island today and neither me or my partner were sick, woohoo! It wasn’t too choppy on the way over either so it was quite a pleasant journey.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Holiday house. Rather than booking into a motel or caravan park, we decided to book a holiday house, partly because it was more cost effective but we also really liked the idea of having a bit of space as well as peace and quiet. The house is actually really nice, it has everything you could think of needing for a home away from home.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Pelican feeding. Aside from actually getting to Kangaroo Island, the only thing we did was take a drive around the town and go see the pelican feeding. We were right up close to the pelicans, and it was pretty cool to see them gobbling everything and the seagulls swooping in to try and steal some food!

Did you have a good week? Any highlights you would like to share?

Exploring how to achieve my “wants”

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, trying to work out what I want to be doing with my life, and I’ve come up with a few ideas which I have been further exploring to do some goal setting to help me achieve them.

Here’s a list of things that I came up with:

  • I’d like to be more active
  • I’d like to be fit
  • I’d like to be good at pole dancing
  • I’d like my eating to be healthier
  • I’d like my house to be neat and tidy
  • I’d like my house to be clean
  • I’d like to be more in touch with my spiritual side

I’ve come up with a brief description of each of these things to help me start building goals around them.

Being more active

The big question is, what kind of active to do I want to be? I’m thinking active things that I find fun, so things like pole dancing, kayaking, walking, visiting the zoo. The next thing I’d need to have a think about is how often I want to do it and how often I actually can do these things.

Being fit

I suppose the thing with this is really what my measurement of fitness is. I imagine this might change over time as I achieve the level of fitness I want now, then I can set another goal. At the moment, being able to run 5km and doing a complex pole routine without feeling like I’m dying at the end is how I’d measure fitness currently.

Pole dancing

I have a long way to go before I am what I think of as a good pole dancer, but I have a few milestones along the way to help get me there. So being able to hold an invert, then choreographing a routine and then maybe competing in an amateur competition before moving on to something like Miss Pole Dance.

Healthy eating

Lots of people have different ideas about what this looks like and to be honest I don’t really by into much of the fad stuff like paleo or raw diets or whatever. I particularly find it challenging to have the time to do all of that but nevertheless would like to make healthy changes to what I’m eating. So for me that means less cafe bought lunches, more fruits or fruit products like dried fruits or fruit yoghurt, and more salad wraps rather than heavy bread sandwiches or rolls, and definitely healthier dinners. One of my biggest problems is grazing once I get home, so I need to figure out how to wind that back.

Neat and tidy house

I suspect this is going to be a challenging one because I live with my partner and will really need his input in cleaning up after himself. He’s shocking at it, and I’m not the best but I can keep on top of my own mess when I apply myself but he’s a bit of a slob which frustrates me. So this one is going to be about talking with him I think, discussing what is an isn’t an acceptable measure of messiness, and maybe even create a roster of some sort to help keep the house tidy.

A cleaner house

This ties in with the previous one. I already put a lot of effort into keeping the house clean, but with two people and a dog it takes more than what I would do living on my own. Really for this I would like to see no dog hair on the floor, if something is spilt on the floor it’s cleaned up straight away, and for the toilet and shower to be cleaned more regularly. This one I think is really going to need a roster that I’m sure I’ll have to enforce somehow.

My spiritual side

To me this is all about spending time with myself doing things like meditation, maybe a bit of yoga and relaxation as well. The self-love and self-healing sort of stuff. There are all sorts of sessions, half day retreats, and even weekends where you can go and spend time doing this stuff so I think it’ll be a matter of making sure I book in to do some of those.

Now that I have a bit of an idea of what for me is involved in each of these I can begin to make some solid plans and goals to help me achieve those. I think I have a lot of work ahead of me with some of it, but I feel good about doing it and working towards all of this.

Have you done this before? Looked at the things that you want and done some goal setting and planning around them? Do you have any tips or tricks you can share with me?

Take care,

Jas
